ATHLETICS
UHC hosts its own Athletics Day in late February or early March each year. It is a HOUSE competition and a very popular and colourful day. From this meet, students achieving well are selected for the school team to compete in the Hutt Valley Regionals in early March. We send a team of 80-90 students to this 8 school event and usually compete with great success. This event is traditionally held at the Hutt Recreation Grounds, but for the next two years will be held at the Petone Recreation Grounds, due to work being done at the Hutt Rec Park for the 2011 Rugby World Cup. From this regional event a much smaller group of 20-35 qualifiers are selected to go through to the Wellington regional meet. From there, students can be selected into the Wellington Regional team to compete at Secondary School Nationals in December each year.
UHC hires buses to transport students to the Hutt Valley and Wellington meets. Any student qualifying for Nationals is responsible for their own arrangements in conjunction with the Wellington team.
