What
International Languages can I study at UHC? French
& Japanese
French and Japanese run as full year
options from Year 9. Each year you will build on what you have learnt in the
previous year. For this reason it is not possible to pick up a language for the
first time after Year 9. The longer you continue to learn a language the more
useful it will be for your future.
How are
International Languages taught?
A variety of language activities are
used to encourage greater skill in Listening, Speaking, Reading and Writing. For example, paired
activities, role-play, listening to CD's, watching DVD's, internet, e-pals'
exchange and cultural visits. You will also discover interesting cultural
features of the language speakers' countries.
You will have
opportunities to host exchange students and to participate in an exchange to Japan, Vanuatu
or Noumea.
Language learning teaches memory
building, flexibility and intelligent guesswork builds deduction and problem
solving skills that are in demand by employers.
Language trained people can be found managing research units in
government departments such as Trade, Treasury and Commerce; in Internal and
Foreign Affairs; the media, tourism, teaching, scientific research and law.
