KAPA HAKA

Our kapa haka group has gone from strength to strength in recent times, in 2009 winning third place in the regional kapa haka compeitions, missing on second placing by one point only. Much of the choreography and design has been done by the students themselves, with adult leadership and training provided by Mac and Hayley McCorkindale as well as Pitau Hitaua . The group impressed especially with their striking new costumes.

Besides performing in competitions, the group has played a role in welcoming visitors to the college, including overseas visitors on sports and cultural exchanges, and in welcoming new staff, including a powerful powhiri for our new principal at the start of 2009.
